2014

  1. HB 289 – Traffic-Control Signal Amendments
    If a traffic-control signal is unresponsive to a bicycle, after 90 seconds and if the intersection is clear, a bicycle may pass through a red signal or red arrow. 
  2. Motorist, cyclist safety effort in Emigration Canyon
  3. Sixth Annual Bike Summit
    Bike Utah produced the sixth annual Utah Bike Summit in Salt Lake City. More than 250 people attended the Summit.
  4. Support for Bicycle Friendly Businesses
    Provided technical assistance 2 local businesses in applying to become Bicycle Friendly Businesses
  5. Coordinated a bicycle ride looking at Salt Lake City’s bicycle infrastructure for planners, engineers, and elected officials from Utah, Davis, and Salt Lake Counties. Future rides are planned for other municipalities throughout Utah.
  6. The League of American Bicyclists ranks Utah the #8 most bicycle friendly state

2013

  1. SB 104 – Vulnerable User Act
    Vulnerable Users of Highways Tightens up Utah’s three-foot law and will provide law enforcement with better tools to protect defined vulnerable road users; bicyclists, pedestrians, and emergency highway works.
  2. HB 299 – Bicycle Modifications
    Provides that equipping the operator of a bicycle, rather than the bicycle with lights and reflective material meets requirements, also clarifies what electric bikes are considered bicycles and added that 3 & 4 wheeled bicycles are also considered bicycles under the traffic code.
  3. HB 294 – Bicycles on Streets
    Amends provisions relating to overtaking and passing bicycles and mopeds on the highway.
  4. HB 297 – Bicycle and Moped Amendments
    Amends provisions relating to overtaking and passing bicycles or mopeds on highways.
  5. HB 324 – Passing on Right Amendments
    Amends
     provisions relating to passing a vehicle on the right.
  6. HB 316 – Traffic Amendments
    Un-responsive signals, and clarification on ‘reasonable police powers to regulate bikes
  7. Open Streets Events
    Co-organized Utah’s first Open Streets Events with Salt Lake City and Taylorsville 
  8. Co-created the Statewide Active Transportation Coordinating Committee
    with the Utah Department of Transportation
    This committee aims to bring together those interested in advancing bicycle related efforts, which includes municipal governments, regional planning organizations, health departments, economic development agencies, law enforcement, and the education field, among others.
  9. The League of American Bicyclists ranks Utah the #14 most bicycle friendly state

  13. Fifth Annual Utah Bike Summit
    Bike Utah produced the fifth annual Utah Bike Summit in Salt Lake City. More than 175 people attended the Summit.

2012

  1. Fourth Annual Utah Bike Summit
    Bike Utah produced the fourth annual Utah Bike Summit in Ogden. More than 175 people attended the Summit.
  2. Road Respect Campaign
    Partnered with the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Utah Department of Transportation for the second annual Road Respect Campaign.
  3. Helped the Southern Utah Bicycle Alliance become an advocacy organization. Assisted in creating the Southern Utah Bike Summit in which nearly 90 people attended.
  4. Minneapolis Trip
    Bike Utah led a group of 15 Active Transportation Committee members to Minneapolis for a two-day site visit to learn from Bicycling Magazine’s most bike friendly city.
  5. Informational Bicycle Tours Bike Utah led tours for planners, engineers, and elected officials on the Murdock Canal Trail in Utah County, the Salt Lake City Cycle Track, and on trails and roads in Ogden, Logan, and St. George.
  6. Bike Light Giveaway
    Distributed more than 500 lights to cyclists in conjunction with Salt Lake City Transportation Division.
  7. Assisted in forming Active Transportation/Complete Streets committees
  8. The League of American Bicyclists ranks Utah the #13 most bicycle friendly state
  9. Bicycle Friendly Communities in Utah: 3 (1 Silver, 2 Bronze)

2011

  1. Road Respect Tour
    Co-founded Road Respect Tour with the Utah Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety. This promotes mutual respect between motorists and cyclists through sharing the road.
  2. Third Annual Bike Summit
    Bike Utah produced the third annual Utah Bike Summit at Salt Lake Community College. More than 140 people attended the Summit
  3. The sixth annual Josie Johnson Memorial Ride was organized by Bike Utah
  4. The League of American Bicyclists ranks Utah the #31 most bicycle friendly state
  5. Bicycle Friendly Communities in Utah: 2 (1 Silver, 1 Bronze)

  1. The SLC Bike Summit becomes the Utah Bike Summit

  1. Share the Road License Plates
    Created and raised funds for Utah’s Share the Road license plates: The funds raised through this program goes towards the promotion of safe bicycle operation, safe motor vehicle operation around bicycles, and healthy lifestyles.
  2. Founded SLC Bike Summit
    Bike Utah co-founded the SLC Bike Summit, a regional conference focused on bicycling-related issues in Salt Lake City. ?
  3. The fifth annual Josie Johnson Memorial Ride was organized by Bike Utah
  4. The League of American Bicyclists ranks Utah the #18 most bicycle friendly state

  1. Bike Utah was founded as the Utah Bicycle Coalition
  2. Utah’s 3 Foot Law
    Bike Utah was instrumental in the passing of Utah’s 3-Foot Law. This law prohibits a driver from operating a motor vehicle within three feet of a vulnerable user of a highway.
  3. The first annual Josie Johnson Memorial Ride was organized by Bike Utah
